Skipbrot Strönd.

Reykjavík coast, Iceland.

Population: 82.

The small town is named after the perilous fate of many ships which met their last along its rocky coast; Skipbrot is Icelandic for "shipwreck". Relying on the historical infamy of marooning hundreds of sailors to its shores, Skipbrot is the pinnacle of Icelandic tourism when it comes to all things nautical. But to visit the town, you'll need to dress up warm, pack extra blankets, and don't forget your essentials in the five-hour journey through the snowy bluffs. A long way out from the city, Skipbrot is a thriving community all of its own.

As a tourist, the local inn is where you'll stay. The bar is guarded by a jaded fisherman with a hand less two fingers almost always wrapped around a mug of ale. The rooms are cozy but small, and smelling of the frosty brine if you can crack the ice off the windows to open them. You can visit the Culture Center, the highlight of the town, where you can buy kitschy magnets and mugs, stock up on candy, lug back a few history books, and sign up for local activities. Snowmobiles are available for rent on the short days and long nights you wish to venture out to the ice caves and catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Off the coast is the Skipbrot Lighthouse, now in operation to prevent more ships wrecking at the coast, which you can visit via a fifteen-minute dinghy ride.

But the most exciting part of the tourist attractions is the Skipbrot Festival.

The Skipbrot Festival is a yearly gathering of tourists and Iceland residents alike, who gather in Skipbrot to celebrate the local culture. A magnificent ship, called the Heerlijkheid, docks in the harbor with her captain, ready to be toured and explored by the curious. As beautiful as it may be, the Heerlijkheid, thought by legend and lore to be hiding a massive amount of riches somewhere in her body, is often the source of controversy. The captain and a local Skipbrot family both feud to claim ownership of the ship. Local enthusiasts try to sneak in and steal from the ship, to venture and find the promised riches. Despite the fuss, the yearly Skipbrot Festival goes on without issue.

But not this year...

The captain of the Heerlijkheid, Magnus Kiljansson, has gone missing. For the Festival start, the ship steers into port in the dark of night. By morning, the captain is gone. The only sign of him left is a suspicious smear of blood on the harbor dock, the log of a distress call from the ship's radio, and a few missing items from the Captain's quarters: a map, a sextant, and a key to the ship's control room. He is nowhere to be found, but in all the thick snow he could not have gone far...right? While the residents of the town cast the blame on tourists for disrupting the peace, a manhunt and uproar ensues. Some residents are starting to look suspicious, and some tourists seem to be a bit eager for fame... Others are angry...and potentially capable of murder?

A snowstorm comes in heavy and you are locked into Skipbrot with your fellow tourists and the local residents. Everything is tense, without answers, and with great suspicion.

Can you help figure out what happened to Captain Kiljansson?

Be careful and keep warm.

In the harsh, sub-zero landscape, you never know what could happen.

You never know what others are capable of...
